Activities: Sheltered ocean cove and snorkel reef right in front of Sunset Cove. Largest swimming pool on Seven Mile Beach with a swim-up food and cocktail bar, whirlpool, and children's wading pool. SCUBA Diving, water sports, bars, restaurants, gym, shopping and golf on-site and/or nearby.

Airport: Owen Roberts International airport is located approximately 3 miles from Sunset Cove. There is a large departure lounge with duty free shops and a cocktail/snack bar.
Amenities (Property): Ocean cove, largest swimming pool on Seven Mile Beach with a swim-up food and cocktail bar, whirlpool and children's wading pool. Snorkel reef just offshore. Sunset Cove is close to all to the action: a variety of restaurants, bars, shopping, and water sports.
Amenities (Room): All units have two bathrooms, a full kitchen (including a microwave and dishwasher), clothes washer and dryer, central A/C, ceiling fans and cable TV. Daily bath towel service and every third day full maid service included. No services are provided on Sundays, Cayman Holidays, and with most special promotions (low season: mid-Apr to mid-Dec services provided vary). Beach towels are provided on arrival.

Beaches: All beaches in the Cayman Islands are public. There are no lifeguards on duty. The water is usually warm and calm in the Seven Mile Beach area.
Boats: Fishing boats as well as other dive and recreational boats can be chartered through various water sports operators on island. Prices are based on half day and full day charters. Contact our on-site manager for further information.

Check-in: Daily after 3:00 p.m. at the Sunset Cove Condominiums on-site rental office.
Check-out: Daily at 11:00 a.m.
Churches: Many denominations are represented on the island. They all welcome visitors to their services. For more information, check the local directory when on island.
Citizenship: A valid passport is required by all persons (infant to adult) traveling to/from Cayman.
Clothing: Resort casual is the recommended attire with casual, lightweight clothing being the key. Collared shirts for men may be required in some restaurants for evening dining. Shoes are definitely required.
Cribs: A limited number of cribs are available at no charge upon a request and first come, first serve basis. For more information, contact our U.S. Reservations Office prior to your arrival.
Currency: The official currency is the Cayman dollar. CI $0.80= U.S. $1.00 and CI $1.00=US $1.25. To convert from CI to US dollars, divide the CI amount by .80. It is not necessary to exchange US dollars, as US currency is accepted everywhere.

Driving: Remember, in the Cayman Islands we drive on the LEFT. A valid driver's license is required to drive any motor vehicle. The rental agency will issue a temporary local driver's license for a fee, if you meet the minimum age requirements and hold a valid driver's license. There are many car rental agencies to choose from on the island. For further information, contact our U.S. Reservations Office.
Drugs: The Cayman Islands have very severe laws on the use of marijuana and other controlled drugs. Large fines and prison terms will be issued to those who are in possession of, or importing, any controlled drugs.

Early Departures: There are no refunds for early departures or late arrivals.
Electric Current: 110 volt, 60 cycles, the as in the United States and Canada.
Fitness Center/Gym: We have a membership for our guests at a gym to the north of Sunset Cove at Galleria Plaza.

Gambling: Gambling is not permitted on the Island.
Geography: Grand Cayman is approximately 480 miles south of Miami with an estimated airtime of one hour and ten minutes. Grand Cayman is 28 miles by 8 miles at its longest and widest point respectively. No part of the island is higher than 60 feet above sea level. The Sister Islands lie northeast in the direction from the district of East End. The two smaller islands are separated by a channel about 7 miles wide. Little Cayman is 9 miles by 1 mile. Cayman Brac is 10 miles by 1 mile.
George Town: The capital of the Cayman Islands is located approximately 1 mile south of the property. It is the center of government business, banking and shopping. The harbor front (Port Authority) is where the cruise ship passengers arrive and depart via tenders.
Golf: The North Sound Golf Club is an 18-hole public course on-island.

Hospital: The George Town hospital is located approximately 2.5 miles from the property. For emergencies, dial 911.

Immigration: Upon arrival in the Cayman Islands, you will clear immigration after deplaning and before departing from the airport. You will be asked at this time to show your passport as well as to state your purpose for coming to the island (Grand Cayman). When departing, you will go through local immigration. You will not clear customs or U.S. Immigration until you reach your first destination.
Island Info: There are excellent free booklets on the island which are ideal for answering questions about the island's culture, government, restaurants, shopping, etc. If you have specific questions prior to your arrival, contact our U.S. Reservations Office.

Jogging: Running is a popular pastime on the island with the flat terrain and clean air.
Jeeps: Jeeps are available from several rental agencies on the island: Just Jeeps, Coconut Car Rentals, Andy's Auto and Soto Jeeps to name a few.

Language: English is the dominant language spoken on all three islands.
Location: Sunset Cove is located on the southern end of Seven Mile Beach approximately 1 mile from George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands and approximately 3 miles from the Owen Roberts International Airport.
Lost & Found: The international mailing of a personal item(s) back to you in the U.S. is a complicated and costly process due to the many rules and regulations in place since 9/11. The costs incurred may well be over the value of any personal item(s) left behind in the unit. The best and sometimes only way to retrieve an item(s) is for you to travel to Grand Cayman again to pick it up personally!

Marine Life: The motto is look, but do not touch. The Seven Mile Beach area is a Marine Park. There are severe fines for taking any marine life from this area.
Marriages: Non-resident marriages are increasing in popularity in the Cayman Islands. In the Cayman Islands you can get married as soon as the necessary paper work is processed, approximately 24 hours. Required documents are: Proof of identity, Cayman Islands International embarkation/disembarkation pink slip and if divorced or widowed, certified or original copies of divorce decree or death certificates. Newspapers: The Cayman Compass, Cayman Net News, The Miami Herald, USA Today, New York Times, London Times and Wall Street Journal are all available. Current day US papers are not available until late afternoon.
Nudity: Topless or nude sunbathing is not permitted. Pornographic material/magazines are not allowed.

Population: Total population as of the 2010 census on all three islands is approximately 56,000, of which about 32,000 are Caymanians. All but a few thousand live on Grand Cayman.

Security: Grand Cayman is one of the cleanest, safest islands in the Caribbean. The Sunset Cove owners association provides on-site security during the night, and during peak use hours for the pool and beach.
Taxes: The Cayman Islands have no sales tax on any articles. There is a government tourist tax added to the hotel room rate. This is a mandatory tax and cannot be waived. The major revenue source for government is an import duty that is reflected in purchase prices.
Taxis and Transportation: Taxis are readily available at the airport, hotels and by telephone call. One way from the airport to Sunset Cove Condos costs approximately US$20.00 - $25.00, based on up to 4 persons with two pieces of luggage per person. There is a public transportation system of minibuses that is cheap and reliable.
Telephones: Local calls to land lines are free of charge. Upon check-in, you will be provided with mobile and long-distance phone call instructions. If you are planning to use your mobile device, check with your service provider before leaving home about potential charges and temporary plans. Don't get a big surprise!
Time and Tide: Cayman is in the Eastern Standard Time zone but does not switch to daylight savings in the summer months. Tide information is publicized daily in the newspaper.
Tipping: Most, but not all, restaurants on the island add 15% automatically to the check. If they do not, it is usually indicated on the check as a gratuity not included. Verify before you add a tip!

Water: Grand Cayman has a state of the art Reverse Osmosis plant that services the island. This pure water is safe to drink. However, all fresh water is produced from seawater and is very precious so please do not waste it.
WiFi: All of our owners have provided complimentary WiFi internet access in their condos, but service is sometimes spotty and outages do occur. No refunds are given for lack of or interruption in service during your stay. There also are WiFi hotspots nearby should you need them.
